2017/2018

My first introduction to Baja suspension was my in second year on the team when I was tasked to design a front upright to go on the vehicle. I iterated on the previous year's design and designed a CNC'd aluminum upright. This was a great learning experience with the disconnect between FEA and loading predictions with real life. Although my upright was less than half a pound, it would consistently break after two hours of driving. This reinforced the need to test our components and led me to test all the suspension components before full manufacture the following year. It also led me to focus on instrumenting the vehicle to quantify our suspension loading conditions two years later.
